What is a Micro Wedding?

So if you’ve never heard the term micro wedding you’re in the right place. Whether it’s a courthouse wedding, elopement, or at a venue, micro weddings are big in the industry.

Micro weddings are intimate weddings that typically have 50 people or less. They are usually a little shorter than an average wedding, running about 4-5 hours instead of 6-8. They include your top favorite people and are all about keeping it close. 

After holding my own micro wedding ( I had dreams of elopement but micro was for me) I decided that micros deserve more love! While large grand weddings are popular ( all love here ) they might not be for everyone.

A micro wedding might be for you if:

• You’re looking for a budget friendly wedding and to stay under a 7-10k budget

• You’re more comfortable with small get togethers than going out to big parties

• You want to keep your big day intimate 

• You’re eloping!

• You want your wedding to feel more personal

• You’re an introvert couple

All amazing reasons to hold a micro wedding.  But if you’re like me your next thought is 

“But what will everyone think?

You care about your friends and family and don’t want to disappoint them! That’s understandable and  I have this advice for you:

This is YOUR wedding day. Not theirs. They either had their wedding already, or have plans for theirs, don’t let them plan yours. If only having 10 people there makes you happy then that’s what it is, don’t compare what makes you happy to what makes others happy.

If you feel embarrassed about holding a budget friendly wedding, don’t. There is nothing embarrassing about understanding your finances. When you think about your wedding it should be butterflies not dread. If you’re stressing yourself out trying to hold a wedding that you can’t afford it will reflect throughout the day. Your love is not defined by dollar signs. And anyone who doesn’t agree doesn’t have to go!

There are so many different ways to hold a micro wedding. My husband and I held a city hall wedding with just our bridal party and immediate family, then held a big dinner at our favorite restaurant for all our friends and family to celebrate. And the people we thought would judge us for it, were some of the most supportive.
